Sunday's get-yr-dancing-shoes-on post

Ok for most people weekends are the time for crazy partying and dancing and whatever shenanigans they get up to. So for most you guys this post is one or two days too late but for me: perfectamundo.
A weeks holiday, the sun is pretty darn scorchio, oh, and tomorrow it's Crystal Castles in Helsinki. Life ain't too shabby. So let's quickly go through these ace tunes before I hit the sunshine.

So what's a better way to start this off than with AGDTCT resident favourite Star Slinger's remix for Rizzle Kicks' Down With the Trumpets. Rizzle Kicks are a young duo who are set out to make hip-hop fun again. Star Slinger's remix is a banging beat-heavy homage towards some of the finest earlier UK Garage.

Maxxi Soundsystem or just Sam Watts from Brighton if you're on more familiar terms is releasing his brand new single Get Up on Nurvous and it is sounding like a slowburning instant late night summer-sun anthem.

Tobias is a Parisian producer who I wish was this guy but probably isn't. He makes hard-hitting almost aggressive IDM, but seems to have a softer side too as Echoes off his new EP Circumstances shows

Double Denim records

It was my birthday a while ago and so while I was down in Brighton last week, my top man J from Dangerdance popped down to join in the Great Escape festivities. Obviously he mainly came down to Brighton to drop off my b-day presents.

These were the incredibly sought after Burial, Four Tet & Thom Yorke collaboration 12" Ego/Mirror and a heap of ace 7" records from Double Denim Records.

In fact they're so ace I thought I'd stick them on here so you lot can get "down and groovy" with me.

Starslinger split with Hard Mix. One side soul-sampling instrumental (see yesterday), other side chillwave at its finest. Both sides brilliant.

I've gone on and on about Blackbird Blackbird on here, but in addition to his two songs Pure and So Sorry Girl there's the B-side by Paopao whom I'd never heard of.
Liberia is a pretty belting tune:

Then I got Body Language's 7" of which B-side Social Studies is possibly one of the catchiest pop tunes I've heard in ages.

All these records are sold out so if you liked them, well unlucky.

But fear not!

Every now and then Double Denim are looking for help round the office. As payment you might get a stack of records. So if you're around the London area and fancy labouring for music you could do worse than follow them on Twitter and maybe be the first to hear about these kind of things. You could even be lucky enough to grab a copy of the up 'n' coming Christian AIDS 7". Not a bad thing IMO.

Band of the day: Vanilla

Evoking the spirit of Dilla. Making sweet tasty hip-hop instrumentals in the vein of Madlib and more recently Starslinger comes Oxford, UK based producer Vanilla who has just recently released his new High Life LP.

It's 27 tracks of pure soul-sampling genius. No over-the-top added extras, just exactly what's needed to create those ultimate chill-vibes (I so desperately need after last weekend's depravity).

Now I've said before on here that my knowledge of Hip-Hop is miniscule. I probably know about as much about hip-hop culture as Muse probably know about the physics involved in an actual neutron star collision but I'm gonna go ahead and say that High Life is definitely something for fans of Dilla's Donuts.

So go ahead and download Vanilla's High Life LP for no money whatsover:

AndygoesdowntoChinatown Megamix #3

Howdy peeps.

Compiled a little summitsummit for your ears to feast on.

Ear feasts sound dirty and a bit Texas-chainsaw-murderer-dinner-party-esque but anyway prepare to let your auditory systems go crazy to this popping/pumping/all-a-round thumping m*#/£Qf%&#~r of a playlist. These are tunes that I've either posted on here earlier or haven't posted on here at all. Listen till your ears weep sweet sweet waxy tears and then listen some more. When your done listening you can just thank me with either a subtle handshake or a double high five. Something we in the business call a high-ten.

Seeing Suge

When three of your favourite in-the-moment music makers combine forces, it can rarely be bad. Seeing as Emay, Blackbird Blackbird and Star Slinger are all AndygoesdowntoChinatown favourites I can hardly find any reasons not to write about this brilliant track that arrived in my virtual postbox yesterday.

Seeing Suge is the name of this collab project and Breaking is the name if their first single

Breaking also samples another AGDCT-favourite Memoryhouse, making this just one huge swirling music-orgy.

Download Seeing Suge's EP for free from bandcamp. No seriously do.

Seeing Suge bandcamp

the EP also features one song from each collaborator, so you can deffo see who brings what to the table.

Here's the only Video I could find to link. It's Emay's offering called Sleep

Star Slinger

I first heard about Star Slinger and his brand of sample-heavy choppy hip-hop instrumentals from the insanely good Emay. But now the name's popping up all over the place.

Generally Manchester wouldn't be in my top-whatevs list of anything to do with hip-hop. But the beats this guy has been churning out might force me to up-to-date that list. Using all sorts of eclectic samples in his music, Star Slinger seems like the guy who's spent way too much time (or some might say just the right amount of time) indulging in long-lost records.

He's also been remixing all sorts. With remixes for the likes of Deerhunter, Small Black, Blackbird Blackbird and Fiveng. I've also heard that there's some kind of collaboration in the works with Emay. That should easily be incredible.

You could/should/would download his first full lenth 'Volume 1' from his Bandcamp site along with his remixes.
